BOLTON ON DEARNE 1855 & 1903 MAP COMPARISON

These two maps show some of the differences in the village between 1855 and 1903.

The most obvious difference is the railway constructed to the east of the village.

Other than this there are two areas of development.

In the eastern of the two fields on the north side of Back Lane two new schools have been built, along with some housing, and on the corner with Furlong Road, the "Collingwood Hotel".

The other main development is along the opposite side of Back Lane.

The double row of terraces called Ladycroft, were built in 1872 to house the railway builders.
