Brief History
The majority of my life has been lived in the Dearne Valley. This is an area of Yorkshire, England, built up around coal mining, and centered between the towns of Doncaster, Barnsley and Rotherham. The Dearne Valley village of Conisborough has one of the best examples of a Norman Keep in Europe, and the oldest building in South Yorkshire; St. Peter's church, the second oldest being St Andrew's church, Bolton on Dearne. Other sites relating to the history of the Dearne Valley include: the Dearne and Dove Canal, the Wentworth Estate, the Dearne District Light Railway (Tram) and the 400+ seat Dearne Valley Playhouse (formerly the Dearne Valley Miners' Welfare).

I am currently working for Capgemini, one of the world's top 6 IT/Consultancy groups. My previous employers have been Blue Bird - manufacturer of "yellow" US school buses and TransBus International - the UK's largest bus and coach makers, both based in Scarborough (North Yorks), Boots The Chemist - the Information Systems department of UK leading retail pharmacy chain, based in Nottingham (Notts) and Intergraph (UK) Ltd - the UK branch of American world leaders in CAD, based in Swindon (Wilts).
Interests
I have been a fan of Queen (the rock band) for over 35 years and of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club for 35 years.
For the last 15 years I have been a fan of Sheffield Steelers Ice-Hockey Club (winners of the 2000/2001Grand Slam of all 4 UK Ice-Hockey trophies).
I have recently completed a six year Part-Time Archaeology degree at Sheffield University exams after undertaking 2 years A level study at Dearne Valley College.
As a trained musician my other interests include playing and writing music, and creating Midi files.
About 10 years ago I started tracing my family tree. I have traced my HENSHAW and LIMB roots back to Derbyshire, my BOWERS, DODD, FROST, TALEBY and TILLETT lines to Suffolk, my LAYTON and MIDDLETON ancestors to Norfolk and my POWERS to Warwickshire, all at the end of the 18th.
I also have a further site dedicated to Cut,
one of the bests bands never to have a recording contract in my honest opinion.
